On Sundays I like to get up and drink a fruit and protein shake before heading out to run a 4km loop around my neighborhood. And it is generally pretty slow and quite enjoyable. It has been very warm and dry here for the last 6 weeks so the earlier I can get out, the better.
Then when I come in, I stretch leisurely and sip a nuun drink before having another small snack and eventually, a shower.
I really enjoy this start to my week. Not only do I like the running, it makes me feel like I am doing something good for my body and my mind. I usually run with my husband and we chatter about the upcoming week or things we see along the way. He is a much faster runner than I am but always paces himself to stay alongside me and it is nice to have the company.
I usually wear compression socks when I run. I have some by Tiux that are fairly easy to get on, but because my fingernails are cut quite short right now for golf, I decided to wear a pair by SLS3 that are quite tight and much more difficult to get on. They are such a lovely blue color. But, WOW! I had such a tough time with them that I couldn't even really get them straight. I took a picture with the sun shining in the window that makes the color look a bit odd... You may have seen my post on Instagram about them.
Do you have any trouble getting on your compression socks?
What is your favorite brand? Please take this opportunity to show them some love!
I've had the SLS3 socks and didn't like them as much as Tiux or ProCompression. I find Tiux the easiest to get on/off and still great support. I love compression socks and wear them all the time: during my long runs, for recovery and sometimes under my clothing (pants) if I have a busy day.
ReplyDeleteI've tried compression and I don't love it. I think i might like compression for recovery but that would be it. But in answer to your question, when I tried them, it was a challenge putting them on!
ReplyDeletei run i compression shorts/pants and I always use compression socks for long runs and recovery. I really feel that it makes a huge difference for me.
ReplyDeleteI've tried a couple of different brands, and my favorite is Pro Compression. Of the ones that I have tried they seem to be the best quality for the price. I also love that they're available in a variety of colors and patterns.
ReplyDeleteI love compression sleeves, but I don't like the full socks....they always feel weird on my feet (especially in the toe area). That said, if (and only IF) I happen to have a lot of post-run swelling, I'll wear the full socks overnight for recovery.
ReplyDeleteI had a phase of compression socks a few years back but don't really wear them anymore. Enjoy those Sunday runs
ReplyDeleteThis is why I became a Legend Ambassador. I struggle a lot with compression socks but theirs are a little more forgiving. I don't have to battle to get them on.
ReplyDeleteBut the whole point of compression socks is to be tight -- that's how they work! I put them on like tights and usually peel them off inside out with some cursing!
ReplyDeleteYes! I totally have a tough time with the compressions socks!!!
ReplyDeleteI have compression socks and sleeves from a million different places. If they're true, medical grade compression, they'll always be a struggle to get on/off. Good times for all! :)
ReplyDeleteI wear compression socks but only to prevent blisters when running long. I get lazy afterwards for recovery. And if they are the true compression socks, they are hard to get on. Mine aren't and they are more for a fashion statement. lol.
ReplyDeleteI think I've got my compression socks figured out. You have to put them on like panty hose, bunching up the toe, then guiding up over the heel and all that. They're still tight, but that's where all the good circulation happens :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and healthy way to start your weeks! So wonderful that your hubby runs with you. I have a couple of pair of Lily Trotters compression socks and just love them!
ReplyDeleteI usually have more trouble getting them off than on. There is a trick to it, but I can never remember how to do it.
ReplyDeleteI love compression socks. I also love that my husband runs with me. Great benefits of being a runner.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! Why do you wear compression socks when running?
