I do have the usual social media accounts, but I know I am missing some great practical and fun things… in particular:
- a photo editor…mostly for Instagram pics. The one in Instagram is really not adequate. And HOW DO YOU get those PicMoneky collages (if that is what they are) onto Instagram? So many things to figure out here.
- a route tracker – would love to track my hikes or runs. A friend of ours does this on his iphone while out cruising in his sailboat and then uploads to his pc – it is so fun to see where he has been on his latest outing.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg, I know it. There must be a bazillion things out there that I am not even aware of… and yes, I have not really been paying attention. My bad.
So hit me! What is your favorite app or two or three? Thanks so much for your help.
For running and hiking I use map my run/map my fitness. My friends uses tracks? or my tracks? to track his sailing. I also like my fitness pal and fitbit if you use either of these. And, of course, words with friends :)
ReplyDeleteI love my AVIARY app to edit photos!
ReplyDeleteI know Map My Run is popular, but I use MotionX-GPS for some reason. For pictures, I use PicFrame to make collages and add simple text. Over is another popular one for adding text to pictures.
ReplyDeletefor the collages you make on your computer with picmonkey, use dropbox. Download it for your home computer AND phone, then it's just an easy upload. When you go to instagram, when it ask you what gallery you're sharing from, you'll have a dropbox option.
ReplyDeleteI use map my run or runtastic. The photo apps aren't great for Android but try a few and see what works well for you. I use instaframe for collages. It's not the best but it does the trick. Enjoy your new toy!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many options, I did a post her eon my five favorite fitness apps: http://www.runninglovingliving.com/2014/03/my-five-favorite-health-fitness-apps.html I love The Fit Fork advice on dropbox, I usually just save it from my blog on my phone. In addition Iuse Instasize for those photos that are just too big to fit on instagram and pic stitch to create collages from my phone
ReplyDeleteI use Photogrid to make collages etc. It works great! I have Runkeeper, which tracks my runs and tells pace but rarely use it since I have my Garmin:)
ReplyDeleteI'm your Android girl! Lol. Photo Grid for collages and adding a watermark on Instagram. Also Textgram for quotes, etc. PhotoRepost for re-graming. I use Map My Run or Runtastic.
ReplyDeleteI use Runtastic to track my runs. I use MyFitnessPal to track my food and exercise. They connect to each other so when I go on a run or walk it automatically uploads to MFP.
ReplyDeletemy friend uses Map My Run and loves it!
ReplyDeletephotogrid is my fave!
ReplyDeleteI use RunKeeper :) I'm biased, because I work there. But 40 million other people agree with me :) You can also sync with a Garmin, Heart Rate Monitor, etc. There are a lot of FFA's who use it too – and there's a nice social component :) I use Evernote to take notes and make lists, and actually draft blog posts. For photos, I use VSCO cam, A Beautiful Mess. I also use the Kindle app and Overdrive (to get books and audiobooks free from my library.)
ReplyDeleteOy I dn't own an Android but I have Nike+ Running, Wahoo Fitness, Strava just to name a few. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't have many apps and I'm not sure what my can't live without favorites are. Following to see what others are loving.
ReplyDeletePhoto Editor: I just use the built in editor, but for collages I use PhotoCollage Maker. For fitness I have: RunKeeper, MyFitnessPal, Nike Training Club and FitBit. I also have: INstagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pages Manager, Flipboard, NetFlix, Wordpress, Messenger, Pinterest, Buffer, Strava, Nike+ Running, Songa, YouTube.... The list goes on and on :) Enjoy your new phone!
ReplyDeleteI have and love my apps... but they are iphone apps (so not sure if they will be available on your phone). :)
ReplyDeleteI like the Runtastic Tabata app and all the social media ones except Pinterest. It doesn't work well on my phone. I have an I phone 4 and I will update it one day, maybe next summer.
ReplyDeleteI've got an iPhone, but I think some of these are on both. For mileage tracking, I use Strava. Photos: Diptic, Instavid and Over. I have a Kindle that I use for workout videos, and love Daily Yoga. The paid version is very reasonable and has great programs.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!!!!!!!
I use instaframe on android to make photo collages on Instagram using the photos on my phone.
ReplyDeletePic tap Go for editing pictures!
ReplyDeleteI need help with photo editing too! I just got some ideas here!
ReplyDeleteWhat phone did you end up getting? I can't quite tell... For mileage/GPS tracking, I use Strava. I don't really use my phone to edit photos, but I am having a good time finding out what others use!
ReplyDeleteI must say that I found two photo editing apps to download just from reading this. I don't really have anything to add. I have an iPhone but I don't do anything fancy with it so I'm probably not the best person to ask!
