Taking Time to Reflect

I am so happy to live across the street from our city’s largest park.. it is a nature reserve, in effect.  There are several colorful varieties of ducks, Canada Geese, gulls, crows, squirrels,  discarded green turtles, eagles, racoons, peacocks, and herons.  The only place inside the park where there are fences is around the Children’s Farm. There is no perimeter fencing whatsoever and so the various paths and bark trails invite you to come in and enjoy.

It is one of my favorite places in the city and in my neighborhood… this is the view out my window across the street to a small lake, and it makes me want to FREEZE the moment, and it encourages me to BE STILL and REFLECT.

What encourages you to take a time out and REFLECT?

  1. So jealous of your view. Living across from a park seems fabulous. I like to sit out on my deck and watch the clouds roll by! That's my reflecting time!

  2. How awesome that you have such a lovely place to sit and reflect! Being outside has the same effect on me.

  3. I just posted about this yesterday - about pausing and being still! My little guy making snow angels and doing the same! Cuddling with my newborn. Meditative stretches... those are few things that make me pause and reflect!

  4. That park sounds heavenly. I'm not very good about taking a time out and just being. There's always so much going on, so much that seems like it needs to be done sooner rather than later. Your post is a gentle reminder to make time.

  5. Sounds like you live in an amazing place! I used to live in Seattle and visited BC... loved it up there. We have some great parks in metro-Atlanta where I live now, but not right across the street - I am jealous.

  6. Sounds wonderful. I have a picturesque lake in the back of my house and sometimes I just sit and look. Look out across the lake and reflect. It brings such peace.

  7. YOU ARE SO LUCKY to have such a luxury of living across the street from a beautiful park! I am envious of you. Here in Los Angeles, I am sort of stuck. It's not a very walking-friendly city, which makes me sad because I love to just stretch my legs and go out and walk- to clear my head and to do errands! I miss going to a park and just sitting and thinking about life or just thinking about nothing!! Relish the fact that you have this outlet! :)

  8. What an awesome view and a beautiful shot. I work nights but when I get the chance to see the sunrise, it never fails to make me stop and reflect. Nature has a way of doing that :) visiting from SITS girls

  12. What a beautifully serene view! Our backyard is one giant open plot, with no space to sit, but hopefully that will change this summer, as that's my favorite - sipping a glass of wine on the porch at sunset. Though a warm fire is a good substitute to put me in a reflective mood. Stopping in from SITS!

  15. Gorgeous! My house is kind of wild--My kids are 1, 3, and 5. But I do find it essential to STOP once a day, read my Bible, pray, and reflect. It's essential to me being able to handle my children!

  18. I love that view! I have t run away to get this or head way from the house.. I can't open a window or a curtain without looking right into another home - I really dislike that.. my lotto win dream is to buy a home where I can open my windows & shades & nobody can see in - that would be perfect!

  20. Amazing view! I'd love that across the street. My quiet time is when I wake up in the morning before the kids get up. If they get up early for some reason, I have a much rougher day with them.
