Thursday Run

I was very happy to see the blue sky and sun shining through the upper hatches in the salon this morning.  It had rained a lot during the night.

I made us a hearty breakfast of whole grain toast with almond butter and sliced strawberries, and an egg, because I wanted to go for a longish run, and I knew I would need the fuel.  If I don't get enough protein at breakfast, I will be looking for a snack an short while afterwards.
About an hour later we set off.  I wore my heart rate monitor today, and we ran at 78% to 85% of max for the most part, even though we didn't take any walking breaks.  I was secretly happy to see that I was going fast enough that The Captain actually had to run today, and didn't resort to walking along side me!  I am getting more confident in my ability to run for longer periods of time, and these slower, longer runs are the reason for that.

We did a total of 9.25km on an out-and-back route that took us along the waterfront of our seaside village, and it was nice to see so many folks and dogs out enjoying the lovely morning.  There are so many different kinds of lillies are in bloom right now and the pink and blue hydrangeas have started to pop as well.

stretch 5 minutes

Ater our stretch, I whizzed up some sweet potato smoothies!  These taste like pumpkin pie and are really thick.  Mmmm.

And it's laundry day on the Good Ship Lollipop.  Always nice to get that out of the way and done.

  2. Well, thanks so much. I am also atrributing my ability to be running longer to the stretching that you introduced me to!

  4. I do.

For 2 small smoothies.. you could easily drink/eat them both...

3/4 cup Almond Breeze original unsweetened
1/2 cup cooked mashed sweet potato
dashes of cinnamon, cloves, all spice and ginger
bit of Splenda or honey for sweetness

Whizz it all up and enjoy! Mine was so thick we ended up spooning the last bits out of the glasses... and of course you could use milk instead of the almond breeze. Hope you like it.
